Scotty St. James

Dear Rick,

My mother (Linda St. James) recently passed away and while cleaning out her house I came across some writing notebooks. My mother was bit of an amateur writer and song writer. Her and my Father both grew up in Poly graduating in 62 from Poly high. She was writing in her notebook about a sweet wonderful lady ( i think it was your mom) No name mentioned.

Anyway, I was a little boy at the time and listened to Delta Dawn 100 times a day on my record player. My mother found out that Tanya Tucker was going to be at Panther Hall and wanted to take me to see her. The people at the door wouldn't let my mother in with a small child. She explained that her baby boy was very sick and was unable to talk and was not going to be around for long due to a tumor that was in my head. I can sort of remember bits and pieces of this story. The only thing I can really remember is that a nice lady came to the door and said what is wrong? I think it went that my mother explained and before you knew we were both inside.

I got to see a pretty girl who I thought was an angel sing Delta Dawn. I have suffered from several strokes and a heart attack. It must be fate Rick. With the love of God, great Doctors and your mom, who I believe was an angel from Heaven, I am still alive kicking with my own grown children.

In the early 80's I was going to TWC and worked as a janitor PT to pay for school and got the privilege of going into panther hall once again. It was full of trash and had graffiti all over the walls. We were dropping off old furniture for storage. I swear for one second I could see my mother holding my hand at the front door while talking to your mother and hearing the sweet, sweet sound of Delta Dawn. I cannot remember the year or date when this happened. Can you help me? Thank you so much. God Bless you sir and God Bless Mary Jo Phillips
